CHINA: THE STREET STYLE WONDERLAND
Liz Nehdi
Tonight, fashion elite and celebrities of all stripes will preen for the cameras at the stairs of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, where they will make their entrance into this year's Met Gala, arguably the fashion world's most high-profile event. This year's theme is "China: Through the Looking Glass," and the dress code for the evening encourages attendees to be inspired by Chinese prints and dress. An exhibit of the same name will be on display from May 7th through August 16th and focuses on the history of Chinese fashion and art and its influence on western countries. It all peaked our curiosity as to what was happening now within China's major cities, on the street level.
Pulling from the street scenes of Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and other locales, we have compiled a collage of street fashion as eclectic as it is refreshing in order to provide a glimpse into what is currently fashionable across the country. For more street looks, visit our Pinterest board.
