Throwback Thursday: The Making of Orangina II – Part I
Liz Nehdi
This will be a familiar sight to those of you who have known my work for a while, but I want to share this project with those of you who are newer followers of Liz Nehdi Studio.
Yes I love colour and pattern, but the other driving force behind my work is bringing more meaning and joy into the world with my designs. My renovation of a classic 1974 Citroen 2CV (or Deux Chevaux) from a rundown collectable to a work of textile art is the pinnacle of what I’m aiming to do with my work.
In the coming weeks I’ll share behind the scenes shots of how this project came to fruition. Although the end product is shiny and wonderfully colour-and-pattern-ful, there were some dirty, less than glamorous moments throughout the making process.
In case you don’t want to wait for next week, here’s a gallery of photos of the finished product, as well as a link to the lookbook I created about the project. If you want to have your own copy of the book, you can purchase it here.
I am putting Orangina II up for sale to help fund my next project, so if you’re interested in buying her, please email me at liz.nehdi@gmail.com.
And if you’d like a piece of this project at a lower price point, I have created a number of accessories featuring the patterns from Orangina II, including a tote bag featuring the pattern from the 2CV’s exterior, a pillow with the watercolour pattern from interior walls of the car, as well as a shower curtain with the pattern from the car seats.
These patterns are available on a range of other products, including mugs, device cases and rugs, so have a look around my online shop and see if anything strikes your fancy.
